Beginning with the best-selling single "And Love Leaves a Scent" from his debut album The First Journey, Tei has captured the hearts of listeners. For his new mini album, The Shine 2009, the ballad prince collaborates on a new style with producer Park Kyung Jin, who previously worked with artists like Big Mama, Wheesung, Gummy and Wanted.

The Shine 2009 features a more energetic use of Tei's voice, while still staying true to his mellow vocals. The mini-album is led by the song "Poison Tongue" (Track 2), with other featured songs including "The Most Painful Word For Me - Friend" (Track 1), From The Heaven, and Mr. Lonely, featuring Bekha from the girl group After School.
