Five people were injured when a 14-meter tree collapsed onto a section of the busy Park Lane Shopper's Boulevard in Tsim Sha Tsui last night. The 100-year-old Chinese banyan, measuring two meters in diameter, fell at about 9.30pm, with its branches smashing several shop windows. Four women and a man aged between 23 and 44 were sent to Queen Elizabeth Hospital. A 36-year-old woman sustained cuts and scratches to her head and hands and the remaining four suffered from bruising on their shoulders, hands and legs. The tree was examined in January and had been placed under observation.
