An accident occurred in Sai Kung Rocky Bay where a speed boat accidentally hit a scuba diver yesterday. A group of after 80s chefs and friends were cruising in a yacht in the water park in Rocky Bay. Some went scuba diving. Suddenly, a speed boat raced across, hitting one of the divers who sustained facial injury and was certified dead on arrival at the hospital. The Marine Police towed away two yachts and three speed boats to help with their investigation. The 31 year old deceased was named Chan Lok Bun, also called Joe. He worked as a chef in a private club. He loved all kind of water sports. Rocky Bay, referred as the Water Park attracts many visitors every summer as it offers many exciting water sports such as banana boat, surfing and scuba diving etc. At about 12 O'clock yesterday, Chan and 20 people hired a white yacht in Rocky Bay and some were engaging in all sort of water activities. Chan and his friends were scuba diving and they were ready to go back onboard the yacht, suddenly, a white speed boat driving at a very fast speed racing towards them. The driver of the speedboat did not seem to see Chan, it went straight to Chan and hit his head. Chan's right face had a 10 inches deep cut and he was knocked unconscious following the impact. While his friends were waiting for him to return to the yacht, they found him floating in the water. They managed to pull him up onboard the yacht and called the police. Cheng, the 21 year old driver of the speed boat was arrested, he was allowed bail for $5000. The Marine Police Crime Unit took over the case. According to report, Cheng has a valid speedboat license. The police also want to ascertain if Chan has taken safety measure while scuba diving.
