Ethan Ruan to collaborate with Hou Hsiao-Hsien after army duties?
The actor was seen with the director on his break from the army but claimed that they were “just chatting”
Taiwanese actor Ethan Ruan was spotted meeting director Hou Hsiao-Hsien during the break he received from the army. It is rumoured that the actor is planning for a possible collaboration with the director after he is discharged from the army in November.
Instead of accompanying his girlfriend, Tiffany Hsu, during his break, Ethan was spotted on Saturday at a café with Hou, where they were reportedly engaged in an animated chat for over two hours.
When asked by reporter if they were discussing about a future collaboration the director expressed that he was "only there for an exhibition".
Ethan however, took a friendlier stance and shared that they were "just chatting." The actor explained that as Hou is close with director Niu Chen-Zer whom Ethan worked with before, "Hou is like a grandpa to me."
The reporters then teased the actor for not accompanying Tiffany during his break. Ethan's manager came to his rescue, explaining that "the director was recommending some books to Ethan and they were just chatting."
