Police first discovered a local travel tour in conjunction with a sexual services syndicate on arranging Mainland Chinese prostitutes to Hong Kong.
16 people were arrested, including five members from syndicate, of which one was the mastermind and another was the person in charge of the travel tour. 11 Mainland women were suspected of prostitution.
Police New Territories South Crime Unit, Chief Inspector Chen Tianzhu, said travel agency assisted the syndicate with booking hotel rooms for the prostitutes and some prostitutes were illegal immigrants with no identity cards.
Police believed that the syndicate had been in operation for over three months and had more than 10 prostitutes on average providing sexual services daily in different places. The monthly turnover was more than 2 million dollars.
