Winners from the SBS 2011 Drama Awards

SBS’s “2011 Drama Awards” ended the year by awarding actor Han Suk Gyu with the Daesang.

Han Suk Gyu was recognized for his outstanding portrayal of King Sejong in the historical series, ‘Tree With Deep Roots‘. After accepting the trophy, the actor said, “First, I would like to thank my parents. I thank my parents who have given me everything from my voice to inner spirituality.”

He continued, “As an actor, there are a few things that are very important. One is the script, I feel thankful towards the scriptwriters. Next is the stage. I thank all the officials who created the set. Last is the audience. There are actors because there are people who watch. I sincerely thank the audience who steadfastly gave their support and love. Personally, if I were to add one more, it would be [to thank] my colleagues whom I worked alongside with.”

He added, “After working year after year, you begin to learn how precious your colleagues are. I think I received this big award on behalf of all my colleagues who participated in ‘Tree with Deep Roots’. I thank you“.

Song Joong Ki teary, “was told I was crazy…” & Lee Yo Won also wins

Song Joong Ki and Lee Yo Won received the ‘Producer Award’ for male and female actor each at the ’2011 SBS Drama Awards’.

Song Joong Ki and Lee Yo Won were the recipients of the ‘Producer Award’ which was voted on by the producers themselves.

Song Joong Ki played the role of the young Sejong on ‘Deep Rooted Tree’ and he said, “I am so happy but so nervous…” Song Joong Ki continued, “When I first saw the script for ‘Deep Rooted Tree’, I told the PD at the production company that I really wanted to do it. Then I told the sunbaes around me because the script was so fun and many told me ‘why would you play the child role at your age?”. I really wanted to work hard and have the viewers go crazy for our drama” and the applause were like thunder.



Then Song Joong Ki added, “Thank you so much. Director Jang Tae Yoo, it was really tough because of the director but thanks to the director I could get direction despite my acting abilities that lack. It was really hard but thank you so much for making me worry. Thank you so much. I will take this gratefulness to become a good actor in action.”



Lee Yo Won who played 2 roles on ’49 Days’ said, “Thank you. This year there were many SBS dramas, but I thank those of you who took care of ’49 Days’. I asked if the award was really from the PD’s and I was told that the award is really based on the votes so I feel great” with a beautiful smile on her face.

Lee Yo Won continued, “I will think of it as receiving it on behalf of the ’49 Days’ team. I thank the fans and I thank and love (my) family who are watching at home.”
