Park Central and Cultural Institution - Cultural Gourd visited 1200 people in Causeway Bay and Mong Kok street last month and found that the average household budget spent 1,226 dollars on Chinese New Year candy, of which accounted for gifts and self use. 50% of respondents purchased candy by flavors, 22.7% purchased according to price and 11.3% purchased according to packaging. Though there is various packaging and types of candy in market, Chinese and traditional candy is still favorites among 80% of respondents. A majority of respondents would go to supermarket to buy their favorite candy because of convenience and price and department stores has also become one of the hot spots for purchase because of various brands and types. Survey also selected Hong Kong people's 10 most favorite classic candy. White Rabbit Creamy Candy (大白兔奶糖) took No.1 spot getting support from 27.6% of respondents, next is Sugus (瑞士糖) at 25.9% and Yan Jim Kee coconut candy (甄沾記椰子糖) at 10.1%.

Cultural Gourd Project Director Wu Wen pointed out that White Rabbit Creamy Candy had imprinted its image with its rabbit trademark since 1959 and its advertising campaign "seven white rabbit creamy candy equals 1 cup of milk" was seen as contemporary nutritional food. To date, it has become a leading confectionery brand in China.
