This idea just popped into my head when watching the ending scene again on youtube. Did anyone else wonder why Charmaine was so distraught the entire series? I mean, yeah the boy she loved died and she blames her best friends for it, but the emotion was not just anger.
I think an important point is that she BLAMES HERSELF for what happened because she could have turned around that moment on the side of the road and forgiven her boyfriend -- leading to a better alternative reality. I think the emotions are pretty subtle, but I think the idea is that the 3 friends carry around the regret for murdering their friend to survive, but Charmaine also carries around the regret of not preventing the situation in the first place. Man, discovering so many gems the deeper I try to dissect the story (no pun intended). What a great series! |
