Rumoured rivals Gong Li and Zhang Ziyi make up at awards show
Leaving the event hand in hand, the actresses dismiss rumours that they did not get along

All is well between rumoured rivals Gong Li and Zhang Ziyi.

The award-winning actresses were spotted hugging each other when they attended the 2011 Director's Association Recognition Show in Beijing two nights ago. The duo left the venue hand in hand, dismissing rumours that they did not get along.

They were also rumoured to be rivals in love as Gong Li used to date director Zhang Yimou, who reportedly began seeing Ziyi after they broke up. The actresses reportedly did not get along when they worked on "Memoirs of a Geisha" and had never worked together since.

Despite a lack of interaction with each other at the beginning, Gong Li walked up to congratulate Ziyi after the actress won Best Actress for "Love For Life". The two actresses were seen hugging and Gong Li had even kissed Ziyi on the cheek to congratulate her on her win.

Ziyi, who won the Best Actress award expressed that she is very happy, "It is great to be able to attain recognition from so many directors. I'd like to thank all the directors that I've worked with and all the directors that I will be working with in the future. I always believe that my next movie will be the best."

Although actor Aaron Kwok, who had also starred in "Love For Life", did not get an award for his performance in the movie, Ziyi comforted the actor on her microblog. She had praised him for his acting and claimed that he is the best actor in her heart.
