Synopsis:
Dave Wang stars as "Racing God" Fred Wong in Roaring Wheels, a street-racing action-drama with both bikes and babes! Once the most renowned illegal street racer in Hong Kong, Fred has not raced since his last outing three years ago, when his wife died giving birth to their child. However, rival racer Weird (Moses Chan) still desires to be Number One, and uses some triad strong-arming to get Fred back in the game. But when the life of his son is threatened, Fred revs up his engine for one last race. Meanwhile, platonic friend Kelly (Maggie Siu) and the mysterious, sexy Suki (Karen Mok) silently smolder for Fred's affections. Thanks to a tortured plotline about a legend out to reclaim his glory, Roaring Wheels comes off as an exciting racing film not unlike the classic films of Hong Kong Cinema's gambling genre. Dave Wang brings presence to an iconic role, and the racing sequences, powerful female actresses, and stunning beachside Sheung Sze Wan location all add up to an entertaining, commercial crowd-pleaser.
