Privacy Commissioner Ruled in favor of Artists, Chow Yun Fat: "The Paparazzi are Ridiculous"

TVB artists Bosco Wong, Myolie Wu, Vincent Wong and Yoyo Chen were all secretly photographed in the comfort of their homes by the paparazzi last year. Since the artists felt their personal privacy had been violated, Bosco, Vincent and Yoyo filed a complaint with the Hong Kong Office of the Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data (PCPD). After several months of investigation, yesterday the PCPD ruled the two magazines FACE and Sudden Weekly have violated the Privacy Policy.

The ruling had created major response in showbiz. The three big Film Kings Chow Yun Fat, Anthony Wong and Aaron Kwok came forward to show their strong support! Chow expressed its fine when he gets photographed on the streets or while he's filming, but regarding the paparazzi taking photos of artists in their homes, Chow sighed and said artists are humans too: "Whether if its someone taking pictures of me from across the building or climbing up to take the photos, I have experienced it all before. I don't believe the privacy of artists is public interest, artists are humans too!" Chow also denounced the paparazzi that climbed up to his home to take pictures: "Ridiculous, the ruling this time is a good thing. This time, the incident with the magazines is way over the limit, I feel we should all have respect. Everyone has their bottom line."

Anthony is disgusted by the magazines FACE and Sudden Weeky's behavior. He said: "Those who climb up people's homes to take photos are definitely scums, cheap! It's just like going into the public restroom and taking pictures of someone taking a crap, or snapping photos of under the dress. There should be privacy even when walking on the streets with family...these immoral reporters definitely should have some self-discipline. I hope the incident will have some kind of punishment, otherwise they won't be scared and will continue to be absurd."

Anthony expressed he filed a complaint before with the PCPD, but nothing happened. He said: "My son was photographed before, I filed a complaint, but they said my son was photographed on the streets, it's not a problem. That is completely absurd! It's just like Ah Gil's (Gillian Chung) incident, nothing. The Artists Association did a lot, but there hasn't been any accomplishments all along. Finally, there's a ruling, I'm happy."

Aaron Kwok expressed the paparazzi that takes photos of artists' family, should have some self-discipline: "It's one thing to have the right to know, but the reports should have a code of practice and snapping photos in people's homes, should have some self-dsicipline." Aaron also shared his experience, which left a deep impression on him: "I'm still scared when I go down to the swimming pool in my residence. Work is difficult, so I hope to have my own personal time when I get home. I hope the media changes the way they report things. First start, with reflecting on their behavior."
