Nicholas Tse denied divorce rumors with wife, Cecilia Cheung

Nicholas Tse: I'm not Divorcing Cecilia Cheung

The recent Edison Chen sex photo scandal implicated numerous female celebrities and their family members. Cecilia Cheung’s husband, Nicholas Tse, finally broke one month of silence and publicly stated that the incident was “not something to be proud of.” Nic also clarified rumors and said that he and Cecilia will not be getting divorced.

Since the photo scandal broke out, there have been numerous rumors that Cecilia and Nic’s marriage was on the ledge. One rumor even claimed that Cecilia attempted to jump off a building with her son, Lucas, in a desperate attempt to save the marriage.

Nic appeared at a promotional event for a mainland apparel brand along with Gillian Chungand Jolin Tsai, who were both implicated in the Edison Chen photo scandal. Nic and Twins flew back to Hong Kong. Arriving at the airport past midnight, they were met with 20 reporters awaiting their arrival. Although the scene was chaotic, Nic seemed prepared in advance by maintaining his composure and a slight smile.


Upon seeing the reporters, Nic said he was willing to accept interviews. This measure to deflect attention away from Gillian worked. As reporters quickly surrounded Nic, Twins quickly left the scene.

Recently moving into the Four Seasons Hotel to escape the paparrazi, Nic and Cecilia allegedly ran into Edison Chen there. However Nic denied seeing Edison at the hotel. “Hong Kong just lost Lydia Shum. How can you guys keep asking about such an dishonorable incident?”

Did Nic and Cecilia’s relationship suffer as a result of the photo scandal? “No, our relationship is going very well.” Responding to rumors that Nic threatened divorce, he smilingly shook his head. Asked whether Nic was in a hurry to meet with Cecilia tonight, he nodded his head.

Did the scandal affect Cecilia’s work? Nic laughed, “No, it has not. Cecilia is still taking care of our son, Lucas.” (What about other ‘normal’ work aside from child care?) “Child care is very normal work!” Nic said that the scandal has not had any impact on Cecilia and him. However, his mother, Deborah Dik Bo Lai, was depressed due to the recent death of Lydia Shum.

After answering reporters’ questions, Nic waved goodbye. Although he did not wear his wedding ring, he indicated that his marriage with Cecilia was fine. Despite earlier rumors that he and Cecilia checked into the Four Seasons Hotel earlier, he was actually heading back to his new residence.
