Temperature at night dropped to nine degrees which is the lowest since winter solstice. Observatory expects this morning's lowest temperature to be eight degrees in urban area and two to three degrees lower in New Territories. 12 degrees will be the highest temperature in the day and temperature will rise close to the weekend. The Home Affairs Department has opened 13 temporary shelters and more than 220 individuals have moved in. Senior Citizen Home Safety Association received a total of nearly thirteen hundred people pressing the safety alarm a day ago, of which 123 requiring hospitalization mainly because of pain and dizziness.
