Wan's older brother said their father passed away in November last year. They had just finished their father's funeral, and unexpectedly he had to prepare for his younger brother's funernal that misfortunes never come singly.
Although Wan Kwong-Pui was short and far from being handsome, but he was a hard working man. He and his Thai wife had a son and a daughter. Aside from personally delivering goods, in the afternoon he would remain in the vegetables stall to administer business, in addition to collecting discarded foam boxes from time to time to sell them in order to earn extra money.
At 1:55pm yesterday, Wan was on the road opposite of the stall picking up discarded foam boxes back to the stall. He then went out to urinate, and when he was returning back to his stall crossing the street, a vehicle belonging to FEHD contractors with 24 tons of garbage drove by. It was suspected that Wan was too short for the truck driver to notice, Wan was knocked down and dragged to the bottom of the vehicle. Upon hearing witnesses shouting, the driver got alarmed and stopped the truck. Wan's belly was open up with intestinal flowing and was in a coma, so driver called the police immediately.
Firefighter rescued the victim out of the truck. Wan's brother who was just resting in vegetables stall ran to the scene after receiving news. He accompanied his unconscious younger brother to hospital for emergency treatment, but until 2:48 Wan was confirmed dead. Police had cordoned off the area to investigate, also called the Government Chemist to the scene to collect evidence, and the preliminary investigation was dangerous driving causing death that they arrested a 51-years-old male driver, also towing the garbage truck that caused the accident. In the evening, the deceased's friends prayed at the accident scene, during which everyone looked sad. The deceased sister-in-law also said that the brother-in-law was the breadwinner of the family. Because of the unfortunate death, his wife and children who depended on him were lost, and finance was also a problem.
