Female Police's Pistol discharge accidentally

An incident of an accidental discharge of the police's pistol have happened at Yuen Long yesterday. An off-duty female police officer from the Heavy Crime Unit was at home cleaning her pistol when the incident happened. The female police officer has unloaded and withdrawn 8 bullets from her pistol,but have forgot that there was still 1 extra bullet being loaded into the pistol's chamber. While cleaning the gun,she had accidentally pressed the trigger. The loaded bullet in the pistol's chamber was fired and it hit an Indonesian maid which is beside her. The bullet hit the maid's right ankle. Only 1 shot has been fired. The maid was afterwards being sent to the hospital,fortunately,her injury was not serious and was conscious all the while.

The police will be investigating in this case to see if the incident was a man-made negligence or a technical error of the pistol. The pistol has been sent to firearms department for an examination.

The model of the pistol was a SIG-Sauer P230 DCs. It is a semi-automatic pistol which uses 9MM bullets. The maximum of bullets that could be loaded is 15. Hong Kong Police have recently adopted the SIG-Sauer P230 DCs to replace the old Colt Cobra revolvers.
