Fans show their support for ‘Love Rain’ with 13,876kg of rice wreaths

Jang Keun Suk and Girls’ Generation’s Yoona are, of course, working hard to uphold their title as hallyu stars, but their fans are also following suit.

13,875kg of rice were donated through rice wreaths under their names by their fans to celebrate the press conference for their drama, KBS2’s Love Rain.

The press conference for Love Rain was held on March 22 in Seoul. Director Yoon Suk Ho, Jang Keun Suk, Yoona, Lee Mi Sook, Jung Jin Young, Kim Si Hoo, Kim Young Kwan, Son Eun Seo, Hwang Bo Ra and Seo In Guk were present.

The event provided the public with an opportunity to see for themselves the popularity Jang Keun Suk and Yoona enjoy across Asia. About 350 members of the press gathered for the conference including 35 foreign media outlets from Japan, China, France and America, and fans also crowded the scene.

The highlight of the day was the rice wreaths lined up near the doors of the venue. Rice wreaths from Jang Keun Suk and Yoona’s fanclubs filled the 20 meters of open space in front of the venue.

A rep from the drama’s PR firm, Y Tree Media, said, “A total of 13,876kg of rice were sent in for the event. 9,100 kg were in Jang Keun Suk’s name, while 4,126kg were in Yoona’s.

The national flags of China, Japan, the Philippines and even Vietnam could be seen among the rice wreaths from Korean fanclubs, containing words of support for Love Rain. The rice wreaths were more meaningful as they could be used as donations in the names of the fans’ stars to help those in need.

An official from the production company Yoon’s Color said, “The Dreame rice wreaths gathered in the names of the actors will be used to help underfed children and senior citizens who live alone.
