Fala was born in Chengdu, China in 1982. She came to America at the age of 15. She attended Emory University in Georgia, USA. After that, she started in entering beauty pageants.

Miss Asian America 2002
Representing Georgia, Fala entered the Miss Asian America 2002 pageant. At the age of 20, she took the crown on August, 2002. She performed a traditional peacock dance in a golden dress for her talent. Her dance was taught by her mother. During this time, she studies Japanese and already talks fluent Chinese and English.

Miss Chinatown USA 2003
After taking the Miss Asian America crown, she entered the Miss Chinatown USA 2003 pageant. Traveling to San Francisco to compete, she took the Miss Chinese Chamber of Commerce 2003 title (1st runner up). The winner was Miss Honolulu, Hawaii, Darah Dung. Fala was rumored to represent San Francisco at Miss Chinese International 2004. However due to arguments from both networks, Fala didn't compete. However, that is wrong. The highest placing delegate at the Miss Chinatown USA pageant represents San Francisco. However, she has to be from San Francisco, or the Bay Area in order to compete. The highest placing bay area delegate from the top 3 only competes. The 2nd runner up, Maria Kang should have represented San Francisco because she was from San Francisco. Like 2004's Miss Chinatown USA pageant, Miss Shan Chen is from New York and the runner up, Kim Choy is from Seattle. That's why the 2nd runner up, Annie Chang from San Francisco participated at the Miss Chinese International 2005 pageant.

Miss New York Chinese 2004
After participated at 2 chinese pageants, she wanted to participate at the Miss Chinese International pageant. That's why she participated at the Miss NY Chinese 2004 pageant. She was a big favorite to win due to her smile, figure, beauty, and pageant titles. She participated at the pageant on August 13, 2004, and taking the crown and 3 awards. The other 3 awards were: Best in Costume, Best in MTV, and Miss Photogenic. Then she had the right to represent New York at the 2005 Miss Chinese International pageant even though she was from Georgia. It was also in 2004 that the pageant accepts delegates around The United States.

Miss Chinese International 2005
In January, 2005, Fala traveled to Hong Kong for competing for the Miss Chinese International 2005 crown. She arrived as a big favorite for many sites and the HK Press. On January 29, 2005, she competed at TVB city for the crown. She took second for New York City. The eventual winner was Miss Leanne Li from Vancouver. She had a flawless performance, and many pageant fans state that Fala should have won since the crown was won by the city of Vancouver for 3 times already. She received her 1st runner up prizes the day after the pageant (January 30, 2005). She returned to New York on February 1, 2005.

Afterwards
After returning to New York for a while, she went back to Hong Kong and joined the big family of TVB.
