Eric Tsang Accused of Fathering Shirley Kwan’s Son

Over the years, there has been countless rumors that Eric Tsang Chi Wai was the father of singer, Shirley Kwan Suk Yee’s 7 year old son. Raising her son on her own, Shirley never publicly revealed the identity of the father. Recently, photos of Shirley’s son was published in a tabloid; the boy’s features allegedly resemble Eric Tsang quite closely.

Earlier this week was Eric’s 56th birthday. Allegedly, Shirley and her son intended to celebrate Eric’s birthday, but was discovered by the media.

Sudden Pregnancy

The 42 year-old Shirley Kwan was a popular singer in the 1990s. She disappeared from the entertainment industry in 1995 and made a comeback in 2001. Shortly after, she immigrated to Canada and gave birth to her son. Since Shirley never married, speculation about the identity of her son’s father continued. Some rumors say that the father is a Canadian-Chinese businessman. Since Eric Tsang continued to take good care of Shirley over the years, he has also been a “prime suspect.”

In a past radio interview, Shirley revealed that her son knew the true identity of his father. However, she refused to publicly reveal his identity. “Only my son has the right to know." She also took the unusual step of protecting the mysterious man’s feelings. "A lot of people did not understand why I suddenly decided to have a child, but I truly like his father...." Shortly after childbirth, Shirley and her son returned to Hong Kong for permanent residence.



Taking Care of Shirley and Her Son for Seven Years

According to a recent tabloid article, Shirley’s popularity has severely tanked in comparison to the 1990s. She is often mentally tired. Over the last 7 years, Eric Tsang has continued to take care of Shirley and her son. Shirley was even spotted entering Eric's home in Kowloon.

One insider said, "Eric’s relationship with Shirley and her son is well-known by people in the entertainment industry. Eric’s own family is also aware of his relationship with Shirley. However to avoid additional gossip, Eric didn’t want to help Shirley and her son in such an obvious manner.”

The source added that Shirley currently still has feelings for her son’s father. However, due to her [independent] personality, she will not fight for any public acknowledgments that [Eric is the true father]. As long as she and her son can see Eric frequently, that would be enough.

Shirley Kwan Caught By Surprise; Birthday Plans Canceled

Recently, Eric and other artists have been recording an album for the Hong Kong Buddhist Association. He went to the recording studio for three days. On Eric’s 56th birthday, Shirley arrived at the building where the studio was located. When Shirley spotted a reporter at the scene, she tensed immediately and hurried her son to flee as quickly as possible. According to published photos, Shirley’s son possesses distinct similarities to Eric: a round face, small eyes, thin lips, and slightly wide nostrils.

Eric Tsang Experienced Two Marriages

Eric Tsang went through two marriages. In 1972, when he was 19 years old, he married the 20 year old Wong Mei Wah, who gave birth to one daughter and son. Four years later, the pair divorced. However due to their children, Eric still saw Wong Mei Wah often. In 1989, Eric married his second wife, with whom he had cohabited for several years. The pair have two sons.

Eric Tsang Denies Relationship with Shirley Kwan

Regarding allegations that he was involved with Shirley Kwan and was the father of her 7 year old son, Eric strongly denied the rumors in a telephone interview. "There are three answers. The first is no. The second answer is of course no! The third answer is definitely no! If I am the father, then I will respond because this issue involves responsibility towards a child. If it is not me, then how can I admit it?”

This is not the first time in which rumors circulated that Eric was the father of Shirley Kwan’s son. Eric said, “Yes, that’s right! This will be my last time in responding. I don’t want to be unfair to other people.”
