Translated by: R.E.D @ http://asianuniverse.net/forums/ ![]() An eight year old girl saved her whole family from burning to death in a blaze. The family live in a unit in Sheung Shui Choi Hung estate. Early hour yesterday morning, a fire broke out in a unit, it was suspected the rice cooker caused the fire. The fire ignited very quickly with the clusters next to the sofa. The eight year old girl suddenly woke up when she smelled something burning, she quickly alerted her elder brother and her parents. The family of four escaped the fire. Her parents did try to use the hose pipe after they left the house. The fire was later put out by the fire service. The four of them were taken to hospital suffering minor cuts, burns and smoke inhalation. 31 year old Tse and his 39 year old wife Tang live with their two children , 15 year old son and 8 year old daughter in a unit on the 17th floor of Choi Wah House. Tse is unemployed, and Tang is the bread winner, earning around $10,000 a month. The eight year old girl is a third grader attending the local primary school. At around 2am yesterday morning while the whole family were fast asleep, the eight year old who was sleeping on the top deck of the bunk bed suddenly smelled something burning. She got up and saw the sofa on fire, she quickly alerted her brother who was asleep on the bottom bunk. She then went to wake her parents up. The fire was already very fierce and the smoke was very thick at that time. The family escaped the house before the fire blocked the door exit. Mr. Tse found the fire alarm point and broke the glass to raise the alarm. He also used the hose pipe with the help from the wife in an attempt to put the fire out. The fire was so fierce that they could not control the fire, both of them suffered minor cuts from the glasses. The fire service arrived and put the fire off. Initial investigation suggested the cause of the fire was due to the rice cooker being short circuited. Even though the rice cooker was not being used at the time, it was still plugged in and was not switched off. The cause of the fire is being investigated.
