2PM’s Wooyoung and 2AM’s Jo Kwon to release solo albums this summer!

2PM‘s Wooyoung and 2AM‘s Jo Kwon are reported to be releasing solo albums this coming summer. The two close friends will face each other on stage as the representatives of two of the hottest groups in K-Pop.

Wooyoung’s solo debut rumor has been circulating among fans since the beginning of the year. He also once hinted in a tweet, “We shall surprise the world soon, peekaboo! I’ll stop here for today~ Good night,” with a photo of himself and 2PM’s Junsu working together in a studio. After the photo was uploaded, fans speculated whether Wooyoung and Junsu would be forming a unit group.

Wooyoung will be the second member of 2PM to have a solo debut after Junsu released his solo debut track, “Alive“, last October. According to music industry professionals, Wooyoung has been one of the members of 2PM with the largest fandom, and has often been praised by J.Y.Park to have the “talents and ability of a true singer, and the best performance out of all the members.”

2AM’s Jo Kwon has released a solo track before in the beginning of July, 2010. Jo Kwon’s digital single, “The Day of Confessing My Love“, was made for his “wife”, Brown Eyed Girl‘s Ga In, when the two were a couple on MBC‘s ‘We Got Married Season 2‘. It has been around 2 years since his first solo activity, and many are anticipating the singer to sweep the music charts, just like he did with “The Day of Confessing My Love.”

Wooyoung and Jo Kwon, who are both born in 1989, were trainees at JYP Entertainment for a long time, and have shown a close friendship. Many fans have been excited about the announcement of both solo albums, and are anticipating what kind of music both talented singers will bring to the K-Pop world. This will be an exciting battle as the two hottest “brother groups” will battle each other out with their “ace” members, Jo Kwon and Wooyoung.
